Our goal is to help patients achieve the highest level of independence by administering appropriate therapy treatment along with large doses of emotional support. Our rehabilitation team includes:
- Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Physicians
- Occupational Therapists
- Physical Therapists
- Speech Therapists
Our department evaluates and treats patients with diagnosis such as: strokes, joint replacements, brain injury, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, spinal cord injuries, multiple trauma and deconditioning.
Patients seen for rehabilitation are usually not sufficiently medically stable for an intensive rehabilitation program and have a greater need for medical intervention. Therefore, they can receive therapy once to twice a day for thirty minutes to three hours. A treatment plan is formulated for each individual based on his or her age and needs.
Patients may receive occupational, physical and speech during their hospitalization. Specialized areas include: modified barium swallows, pulsed lavage, home assessments, electrical stimulation for wound therapy, and contract wheelchair prescription evaluations. In addition, they may participate in our arts and crafts, pet therapy program and social groups.
Rehabilitation can be one of the toughest disciplines of all. While some of our patients need only limited therapy, others have to relearn every skill.
