Diagnosis & Treatment

Once a wound occurs it is important that care is appropriate, immediate, consistent and aggressive. At Specialty Hospital Jacksonville, patients have access to wound physicians specializing in general surgery, vascular surgery, orthopaedic surgery, infectious diseases, and podiatry. Each patient is carefully assessed, then seen two or more times a week by a team of staff specialists, specific to each patients needs.

At Specialty Hospital Jacksonville, a patients medical team can include members from our Respiratory, Wound Management, Rehabilitation, Nutritional Strengthening and Infectious Disease Programs. Our modalities include state-of-the-art technologies, such as Matrix building and enzymatic debridement medications as well as other proven therapies such as Vacuum Assisted Closure and Pulsed Lavage.

Upon admission and throughout their stay, skin conditions and wound status is carefully assessed. Patients are placed on the appropriate bed surface to maximize their wound healing or prevent any additional skin breakdown.
